1st-2nd Ive had some mean food poisoning for a couple of days but fishing must go on. On the docks the word is all about the big sharks starting to migrate through. This time of year is exciting with the chance to catch Sailfish, Golden Hammerheads, Threshers, Makos, and large dolphin come in now too. 3rd In the morning today we caught some big skipjack tuna. We also caught a couple of barracuda. In the afternoon we caught two beautiful wahoo over twenty pounds and some dolphin offshore. 4th Shark fishing today we caught a nice blacktip reef shark. We had some fun with that and then we caught a beautiful 35" dolphin. 5th Today we were pulling needlefish around the reef trying to catch king mackerel. It was pretty good and we got some nice ones over twenty pounds and a bunch of smaller ones too. The bigger fish seem to be a little deeper on the reef in 180 feet with the smaller ones in 60-80 feet of water. 6th The sailfish bite was on this morning but we couldnt get our finger on them for some reason. We trolled live bullets on the reef(which means baby bonitos) and missed a couple of the snoots(sails) we dropped some of these live baits on the wrecks also and did well getting one huge golden amberjack that was 46". In the afternoon we decided to try our luck on another wreck and found another big one for our anglers. We also caught a beautiful Oceanic bonito. 9th Windy east winds of 20knots plus made it a little bumpy today. It didnt stop the little tunnys from covering us up and bending the rod. We missed some fish fishing the wrecks as well, we just couldnt keep them from swimming inside and breaking us off. 10th Killer day of fishing! We did two trips today and did awwsome on the king mackerel. We also got the biggest spanish mackerel i've ever caught down here-over ten pounds. With live ballyhoo we caught some dolphin on the reef as well. Fishing looks to be good these next few weeks as is the norm here in ft. lauderdale. 11th Today we took out Peter Gannon of Trinity Television and caught him an enormous Golden Hammerhead. What a sweet catch! Peter hung in there for a long fight. The large peligic sharks are coming through now. This is your chance to get one! As for me....Time for a cold one! 12th Wow, when your hot your hot they say-and a little luck never hurts. Our customers today caught another big fish. This was a beautiful Golden Hammerhead we kept for a trophy-and it will make a nice one. Due to the poor eating quality of these sport fish we generally let them go unless our cutomers would like to have the taxidermist take them. We do have the worlds largest taxidermist right here in fort lauderdale so if this is for you just let us know! Time for a cold one!!! 13th This morning we had a triple header of sailfish on, what a thrill! All three went in seperate directions and one spooled us to the knot on the light spinnning gear! We managed to catch that one and one of the others for our happy customers-good job guys!!! |
