Fish Reports September

st My neighbor Bill came out with us today and we went offshore. We didn't want to risk the reef after the sloe fishing we had yesterday afternoon. Way offshore we had a huge dolphin on but pulled the hook-what a bummer. Another beautiful one jumped on later and gave us a great fight-a thirty pounder. We had a couple other nice bites too but only got the one big one.

nd This afternoon we caught bonitos and a couple of big cudas'. A real blast was had by all and some good jokes were also told(which i cant repeat here).

rd Small dolphin were around in the morning and helped save an otherwise uneventful trip. In the afternoon we fished live baits and caught some nice barracudas. It was a little choppy today so we couldnt run offshore.

th The reef was yeilding kings for us again today in 130 feet. Our customers caught a couple of real "smokers" which is what we call the big ones. A few smaller ones were around too but a little shallower.

th Today we started on the reef trolling surface baits and a combination of bonito strips and houndfish down deep. The kings were biting and we got four nice ones and some bonito mixed in. The weather was so nice we decided to move offshore and see what we could find. Offshore fish congregate under floating items which is why weed lines are so productive. In the distance we saw some thing floating and it turned out to be a big industrial spool for cable. We were about seven miles out, Taco and I just looked at each other and gave a high five, it was the promised land. In the blood bath that followed we got 15 or 20 dolphin, a nice wahoo, and a few big triple tail. An awsome day of fishing and out with a bang for me as I am off to attend my sisters wedding in NJ. Time for a cold one.

th-9th Amy Elizabeth DuBois is now Amy Zenson-Congrats. While I was away the Hooked Up continued to enjoy great offshore fishing in beautiful weather. Taco caught a bunch of dolphin one day, and an incredibly rare white marlin. Things look good and I need to get back to work and make some money for I am now poor.

th Today we sailed out two times and did pretty well.In the morning we caught kings and bonitos in 100-130 feet. In the afternoon we paired up with another boat and went offshore to look for some dolphin. Two sets of eyes are better than one and our partner found something first. It was an old boat ladder floating with growth all over it and the dolphin were there. As we joinede them we watched them fighting a large dolphin and it wasnt long for us to get in on the action. We got eight dolphin, mostly schoolies with a ten and twelve ponder mixed in. These we call gaffers because you need a gaff to get em in the boat.

th Bastards bombed the world trade center today. Obviosly no one wants to fish including myself. I hope all is well out there. Good luck to all.

th We got out today when they reopened port Everglades to boat traffic. The port is patrolled by coast guard cutters with their guns uncovered now. We caught kingfish on the reef and a big tripletail offshore..

th Our charter could not fly in today as no flights are flying in the U.S. We had to close.

th Tropical storm Gabrielle made seas very rough today. We were the only boat to give it a shot. Our cutomers were happy in the gale force winds and 10 foot steep seas but we didnt feel it was safe and brought them back in. Kudos to those Tennesse boys, they grow tough there!

th Another cancelled trip due to the WTC incedent in the morning. Customers are getting hard to come by. In the afternoon we got out and caught some nice dolphin. We also burned our impeller up on the port engine. Good thing we came in yesterday, I would hate to have been caught out in those terrible seas on one engine!

th In the morning we ripped the salon floor up and changed the impeller on the port side. We got the boat in tip top shape for our afternoon trip. We went out and caught five dolphin and a small longfin tuna. Weather is back to normal and very pleasent. Tuna are busting water in 600 feet and things look right out there for the elusive blue marlin. Maybe tommorrow.

th We went back offshore to look for the signs from yesterday and they wee still there. We got 14 dolphin and a huge skipjack tuna. Good fun fishing!

thIm off to a friends bacholor party in NJ-Scotty Macdonald-good luck buddy we will see you off right. Ill let you know how the Hooked up did while I was away when I get back.

nd Taco went out and got a dozen dolphin and two wahoo while I was out of town. Today we went back offshore and found the mother of all boards. 10 wahoo and fifteen dolphin later we came in tired from an awsome day of fishing. Time for a cold one.

th Taco is off today so I went out with chris and loaded up on kings just north of the inlet bouy. Tourism is slow in florida and it felt good just to get out. I hope anyone who is looking for vacation comes on down. Dont let terrorism put all us fisherman out of work!!

th Dolphin are biting good offshore with big catches being reported. We got a bunch today being of average 6 pound size.

th We went back offshore today where the dolphin fishing remained outstanding. For the course of two four hour trips we wacked'em. In the afternoon while we trolled our way back in we got covered up with small longfin tuna which I have normally only seen in NJ. These little tasty fish will be put to good use as sushi at home. Some large dolphin and skipjack tuna were also around today making a really fun trip.

th In the morning we were rained out as generally windy wet conditions were in the area. By afternoon things had cleared up and we took a trip out. Trolling downsea in some pretty sloppy conditions we managed to catch a bunch of wahoo scattered along a weed line. We also had three dolphin jump on in the same area in 350 feet. Get out there if you can, there biting!
